Never Never Distilling Co.

Never Never Distilling Co. has built its reputation on spirits with a bold point of view. Its website needed to carry that same character while doing three distinct jobs: sell bottles, help people understand what makes them different, and turn online interest into a visit to the McLaren Vale Distillery Door.
We built a custom Shopify store that brings commerce, content and hospitality into one experience. Each product has its own visual world, cocktails create a path from inspiration to purchase, and venue information leads naturally into tables, experiences, functions and events.
Each bottle needed room for flavour, process, botanicals and serving ideas. The visual system also needed to respond to the product itself, from bright gradients and horizon artwork to simpler treatments for archive bottles and merchandise.
The website had another important role. The Distillery Door is a physical expression of the brand, but the existing booking journey was fragmented and did not present every experience clearly. Visitors needed to understand what was available, find practical information and move into a booking without losing the sense of place created by the main website.
A general-purpose storefront could make the range purchasable. The opportunity was to create one that made Never Never feel recognisable at every step, while still giving the internal team practical control through Shopify.
The product page is not a fixed template with a different label dropped into it. Product fields control the colour palette, background treatment, horizon artwork, buttons and hero image, allowing each release to establish its own visual world.
That expression is backed by useful detail. Tasting notes turn flavour into a clear sequence of smell, taste and finish. Reusable botanical entries explain the ingredients behind the spirit. Flexible templates give merchandise, gift cards and international products the treatment they need without forcing them into the same structure.
The result connects the physical character of each bottle with a consistent purchase experience across desktop and mobile.

Cocktail content was treated as part of the store rather than a separate blog archive. Recipes are structured with their own imagery, introduction, ingredients and method, then connected back to the spirits used to make them.
A visitor exploring Triple Juniper Gin can move directly into a Negroni or a classic gin and tonic. Someone arriving through a recipe can understand the serve, then continue towards the bottle behind it.
This creates a more useful relationship between inspiration and commerce. The recipes have space to be genuinely good content, while the products gain context beyond a pack shot and price.
The venue experience is organised around four clear intentions: book a table, book an experience, enquire about a function, or see what is on. Each path has its own content, imagery and practical information, with booking tools opening inside the website rather than pushing visitors through a disconnected chain of pages.
Seasonal opening hours are managed as shared content and reused across the storefront. Frequently asked questions, the beverage menu and contact details answer the practical questions that sit between interest and a visit.
Visitor information is also available through dedicated Japanese, Simplified Chinese and French pathways, making the McLaren Vale experience easier to understand before arrival.

The custom theme combines Shopify sections with structured content for colour themes, botanicals, recipes, booking widgets and opening hours. Editors can assemble campaign pages, update venue information, connect a recipe to a product or change a seasonal message without rebuilding the underlying experience.
Reusable components cover hero content, feature grids, image and text layouts, accordions, announcements, subscription forms and product storytelling. Shopify still provides the operational centre for products, orders, discounts and inventory, while the custom system protects the visual character of the brand.
The distinction matters. The site can keep changing without every update becoming a one-off development project.
The storefront includes the smaller systems that make everyday ecommerce work harder: collection filters and sorting, a responsive cart drawer, free-shipping progress, personalised digital gift cards, email subscription through Klaviyo and an announcement system that can respond to cart value.
These tools give the team a practical base for product launches, gifting periods and short campaigns. New activity can sit within the same store and design language rather than starting again with a temporary landing page.

Customers can discover a spirit through its flavour and ingredients, find a cocktail to make with it, buy online, locate a stockist or plan a visit to the Distillery Door.
For the internal team, products, botanicals, recipes, opening hours, booking links, announcements and translated content live within a Shopify system they already use to manage commerce. The custom theme gives those tools a distinct Never Never expression without separating storytelling from the work of running the store.
It is a Shopify experience built around how the brand actually works: bottles with personality, cocktails worth sharing, campaigns that move quickly and a physical venue that is as important as the online shop.
